Carmarthen AHC welcomed Whitchurch 6ths on Saturday 12th of March, having lost the corresponding away fixture before Christmas.
Carmarthen looked eager to play expansively from the first whistle. Matchday captain Osian Evans played an incisive pass to young striker Josh Gwynne, who struck from the top of the D, finding the bottom corner. Gwynne soon doubled his tally, and the lead, with another excellent strike from a penalty corner.
Whitchurch managed a riposte before the break, capitalising on a bouncing loose ball and bringing the score to 2-1 to the hosts at the interval.
Carmarthen started the second half started in the same vein as the first, and when another searching ball in from Evans struck the post, experienced fullback Steffan Walters was the first to react and cooly slotted home for Carmarthen’s third of the game.
Carmarthen put the game to bed in the final quarter, as Walters recovered the ball from a scramble and played it in to winger Adam Poole who was on the right hand post to touch the ball in from close range.
The match ended Carmarthen 4-1 Whitchurch. A superb effort by all to get back to winning ways despite missing several key players.
Man of the match was awarded to Josh Gwynne for his superb display in front of goal. Next, Carmarthen travel to league leaders Neath for a challenging fixture.
